To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the University (30A), we invite you to participate in our first ever official virtual run, HKUST Virtual Run 2022

Challenge yourself to complete a total distance of 30km or 100km (either walk, hike or run) to win a souvenir medal (or a trophy) and a gift pack^. With social distancing still in place, you may work on your target distance all at once or over a period of time by the result submission deadline (i.e. June 30, 2022).

How to join?

       1. Register 

Click the "Register Now" button below and get started!

The registration is free of charge, on a first-come, first-served basis, limited quota available.

 

2. Get your running app ready

Get your running app or tracker, which supports GPS function, ready, so that you can record your activities (either walk/hike/run, no speed requirement) and submit screencap of your results upon completion.  To encourage social engagement among the HKUST community, an “HKUST Virtual Run 2022” Club will be created on the Strava platform (free account available, no subscription needed).  Join the club so you know how everybody is doing.  For details, please see the participant manual here.  If you do not have a Strava account and do not want to open one, screencap of other running apps will also be accepted. 

 

       3. Complete your distance

Be it a leisurely walk/ hike, a causal jog or a challenging run, you may enjoy your run anywhere at your own pace.  

The target distance (accumulated) for the HKUST Virtual Run 2022 is 30km or 100kmYou may complete your preferred target distance all at once or over a period of time within the event period (May 16 - Jun 30, 2022).

For experienced runners, you may also challenge yourself to compete for the Winner Trophy which will be awarded to the top runner in each categorywho has completed the longest distance within the event period.

 

4. Upload results

Upload your screencap of each of your walk/hike/run, including the activity details on https://run.hkust.edu.hk.  Please make sure the following details are included in each of your screencap:

  • Date and time of the walk/hike/run
  • Distance completed and the time used for the activity
  • Location/Course map of the activity

Please note that you can upload ONCE ONLY with one or multiple screencap(s). If you have got multiple walks/hikes/runs, please upload the screencap of ALL your activities in one go after your completion. You may refer to a sample screencap here

 

5. Share photos on social media

Share your activity photos with your friends on social media, and spice them up with our themed digital resources! Don't forget to hashtag them with #hkustvirtualrun! 

 

Recognitions

Finishers who complete the minimum target of 30 or 100km* (accumulated) within the event period will all win a souvenir medal and a gift pack (The HKUST t-shirt is no longer available)^.

 

 

The top runner of each category#, with the longest accumulated distance, will also be awarded a trophy.
